How we keep the lights on.
Some outbound links may earn us a small commission. It never changes the verdict, and not every link on this site is an affiliate link.

The honest version
CanYouAffordIt.com is built and maintained by humans who like keeping this site free, fast, and pop-up-free. To eventually pay for that we may participate in affiliate programs — for example, with lenders, insurance comparison sites, learning platforms, or tooling we genuinely use.
When that happens, some links on the Site will be affiliate links. If you click one and then sign up for, buy, or otherwise take an action on the partner’s site, we may receive a commission.
What this means for you
- It does not cost you extra. Affiliate commissions are paid by the partner, not added to your bill. In some cases, partners actually offer better terms to users coming from sites like ours.
- It does not change our verdicts. The calculators run the same math whether or not a partner is involved. We will not tilt a result toward an affiliate partner.
- Not every link is an affiliate link. Most outbound links on the Site are plain, no-commission links to useful resources. You shouldn’t assume any specific link earns us money unless we say so.
- You should still evaluate the recommendation. Even when we like a partner, your situation is yours. Read the fine print, get a second opinion, compare with at least one non-recommended option before deciding.
How we choose partners
When we add an affiliate relationship, we aim for partners that:
- Offer something we’d actually point a friend toward.
- Charge transparent prices or rates.
- Don’t pressure users into bad decisions.
We reserve the right to drop a partner at any time, for any reason, including “we don’t like the vibes anymore.”
Not financial advice
As with the rest of the Site, anything we say about a product, lender, insurer, or service is for educational and entertainment purposes only — not personalized financial, legal, tax, insurance, or investment advice. For the boring details on that, see our Terms.
Questions
If you ever wonder whether a particular link is an affiliate link, or whether a partnership is influencing what you see, drop us a note at [email protected]. We’d rather answer a direct question than leave you guessing.
